This is an exploration of the true events in 2000 at Feltham Young Offenders Institute, which resulted in the death of Zahid Mubarak.

Just before he was due to be released after serving his term, another prisoner named Robert Stewart is brought in to share the cell. He was known to be a violent racist but the prison authorities, while not unaware of these, passed over any concerns because there was a bit of overcrowding.

(After the murder Stewart is shown being bundled into an adjoining empty cell, this may or may not have been an accurate detail).

Most of the dialogue of the film occurs in Stewart's head, during which he discusses with his alter ego all the injustices of his life, dating back to childhood and severely abusive parents.

It's an effective way of trying to get inside Stewart's head though it's never likely to be wholly successful. Of course we knew beforehand what the outcome was going to be.

Perhaps the most powerful part of the whole film was the end titles which commented on the aftermath and the lack of any action taken. The main culprit amongst the prison authorities was promoted.
