I have to be honest and say I missed a few of the plot details here. I can’t say whether that was my fault, or whether these details were simply missing or obscure.

Even without being entirely sure why certain things were happening, it was an enjoyable film to watch.

Detective Jay Swan (Aaron Pedersen) has returned home, somewhere in the Australian outback, and investigates the murder of an aborigine girl found dead by a trucker. There’s also a previous murder of a policeman, plus drug-dealing, and just about everyone from the police downwards seems to be involved.

Swan doesn’t trust anyone (other than his estranged partner and daughter) least of all his fellow police. He roams around with a glowering expression, confronting various suspicious characters.

We finish up with a remarkable gunfight featuring most of the characters we have already seen, with bullets flying everywhere and only a few finding their mark.

Sweeping rugged landscapes look impressive and even though I hadn’t followed everything, or indeed much, I left feeling quite happy with what I had seen.
